Rimmel London Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation & Concealer | Review

A few weeks ago I was sent some new Rimmel* goodies to try; their new Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation in and the Lasting Finish Breathable Concealer. When I first received them I thought they would be too dark for my skin as the bottles look dark to be the second to lightest shade.

I first tried the concealer, I have never tried a breathable concealer. I have the shade 100 Fair and there are 6 shades in the range each £5.99. At first when I applied it, it is slightly darker than my skin tone. However when it’s blended out it blends in with my skin and isn’t noticeable. It claims**:

  • Lightweight breathable formula helps to conceal imperfections
  • Cushion applicator allows for perfect blendability and touch-ups on the go
  • Medium coverage

It also claims to last up to 25 hours, whilst I haven’t tested 25 hours, it does stand up do a 9 hour shift at work plus a few extra hours after. I use this concealer to cover up blemishes and redness. For me it takes two applications to fully cover up the redness and any blemishes. Personally I wouldn’t say it’s a medium coverage, but it is easily buildable. It doesn’t irritate my skin or make my skin breakout any more! I agree that it’s lightweight, and doesn’t cake up on my skin.

For £5.99 it doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of product in the tube. Even when I first used it I had to squeeze a lot to get any product out. Although no much is needed to coverup blemishes or redness, I feel like I would use this up quicker than a normal tube with a doe foot applicator.

Mentioning applicators, I find the one on this tube to be odd. Personally I don’t use it as it’s quite hard. Plus if I’m putting this on blemishes, by using it to blend out it would contaminate the sponge, so I just squeeze some onto my finger to apply it where I want it.

When it came to the foundation I didn’t it expect to have a large doe foot applicator. At first I wasn’t sure on the applicator, but after using it often I love it. It makes applying the foundation so quick and easy, plus it the bottle doesn’t get messy. I have the shade 100 Ivory, which is slightly too dark for my skin and makes my face look more tanned than my neck, but not massively obviously. There are 14 shades in the range, each £8.99. It also doesn’t oxidise, which I love. There’s nothing worse than matching a foundation or concealer to your exact shade, only to try it at home and find out it oxidises!

The foundation claims**:

  • it perfects your skin with the light to medium buildable coverage
  • It is enriched with breathable skin technology and moisturises for up to 25 hours.
  • Up to SPF 20

Whilst I haven’t tested it for 25 hours, it does last me a 9 hour shift at work plus a few extra hours. It doesn’t break up around my chin and nose, giving them a weird texture but nothing a touch-up can’t sort out. I like the coverage and that it’s easy to layer up. I typically apply more around my cheeks and nose where I get red and it does’t go cakey or give the skin an odd finish. Plus this doesn’t break my skin out either!

Overall I have really enjoyed trying these two products out! I love that they don’t break my skin out or oxidise! Plus for a drugstore foundation and concealer they match my skin well, usually I find it hard to find a good drugstore match for my skin tone! The picture above is with both foundation and concealer applied, they both look natural and perfect for everyday makeup!

Thank you so much for reading! What’s your favourite foundation?

Until next time!

My go-to foundation has been Estee Lauder’s Double Wear for years now, but lately I’ve been having problems with break outs so I’m curious to try a foundation that doesn’t clog my skin up so much now so I might give this a try😊

usually, Rimmel is bomb with foundation, so I need to try this one! I’m not convinced about the concealer sponge applicator though, i don’t like it. I know I can always apply it to the back of my hand and then use a brush, but still…
    Great post! xx

I definitely need to try this! I love that the foundation has an applicator instead of just an open bottle. My go to foundations are the Milani 2-in-1 Conceal & Perfect Foundation and the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation.

Same! It makes application so easy! Oo I haven’t tried either! I’ve seen lots of positive reviews of the Milani foundation!
