Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream | Review

Sleek are a brand I haven’t really tried a lot from, not for any particular reason. Their highlighter palettes are the only thing I’ve tried and loved, so when I was gifted a few Sleek gift sets I was intrigued to try more.

Their Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams are £4.99 each, available at Boots, Superdrug and many more places and are described as:

Swatches of the Matte Me shades; That’s So Fetch at the top and STFU underneath

Get Lippy! With our no1 best selling lip product.

  • Glides on in ones smooth application
  • One swipe, you won’t need a second coat
  • Light texture and comfortable wear
  • Non-drying, does not cake or flake

The Matte Me range has a good selection of colours from nudes to bright and bold colours. The two colours I have are That’s So Fetch a bright pink and STFU a bold red.

The formula of this lip cream is very quick drying, so when applying you have to be pretty quick at it, or else it can start to dry before you’ve finished. As it dries down it does feel very drying on the lips, but after a few minutes the lip cream has completely dried and feel comfortable.

Wearing the shade That’s So Fetch

I have worn both shades and I totally forget I have lipstick on. They are really comfortable to wear and don’t wear off much with eating and drinking. I don’t like to apply more on top of what’s already on as I found it to be too drying and didn’t look as good as just one coat. I also found that as they are bold shades, after a few hours wear I’ll have a ring around the inside of my mouth where the product has worn off.

When it came to taking off the lip cream, I use a Face Halo and it was really easy to remove. However when I swatched the colours on my arm and used a cotton pad and micellar water, it was a lot more stubborn to remove and came off very crumbly.

Overall I do like these lip creams, they are really comfortable to wear and last well after drinking and eating. They are super affordable and perfect for evenings/nights out. The only thing I don’t like about the Matte Me range is that I don’t like the smell, they smell chemically which isn’t appealing to me to then put on my lips. But for £4.99 they do exactly what they say and are pretty comfortable. What’s your fave lip product? Let me know in the comments below!
