I had seen the Too Faced Born This Way foundation get raved about a lot on social media and YouTube, so I caved and decided to try it for myself. I did a few swatches in Debenhams and decided the shade Snow matched my skin the best. For £29 the Born This Way foundation is described as:

This oil-free foundation masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin for the perfect naturally flawless finish and coverage so undetectable, they’ll think you were Born This Way!
Medium-to-full, undetectable coverage
Oil-free
Coconut Water helps delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels without over hydrating.
Infused with the resilient Alpine Rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity.
Hyaluronic Acid provides long-lasting, skin-balancing hydration for a smoother, more youthful appearance.
The bottle itself is very sturdy, with a black cap that comes off to reveal a pump which dispenses the product. The pump is sealed onto the product, which means I probably won’t get to use all 30ml that is stored in the frosted glass bottle. Other than that the packaging is very sleek.
Onto the foundation itself I thought I had matched myself pretty well in store, however when I used the shade Snow on my face I realised it was a bit light for me. Whilst it does match my skin tone, it can just make me look paler than I actually am in real life.
Before applying makeup After applying the Born This Way foundation and concealer
I tried it out by itself a few times and wasn’t that impressed with it. It’s described as medium coverage but for me it still left a lot of redness showing through and layering the foundation is a no go for me, it made my skin look really cakey.
My skin type is combination and even though it’s an oil free formula I found no matter what I set my skin with or used to prep prior to application, my skin still looked very shiny all over. I don’t mind looking a little dewy, but this is like a whole new level, I looked like I had been profusely sweating after just a couple of hours wear.
After applying the rest of my makeup Another look using the the Born This Way foundation and Wet n Wild Photofocus mixed together
I was a bit annoyed that it didn’t work for me, but I did find that when I mixed the foundation with the Wet n Wild Photo Focus foundation it became a dream combination. Mixing the two formulas created a flawless base for me skin and didn’t break up around my face or leave my skin looking too shiny. Whilst in the photos above there doesn’t look like much difference at a glance, I can see it in my skin in real life, it’s way less shiny and has a warmer undertone.
Whilst I won’t be repurchasing the Born This Way Foundation in my correct shade I have mixed feelings about it. When mixed with other foundations its a dream but on its own it doesn’t perform as well. For me £29 is too much to spend on a foundation just to mix it with other foundations. Have you tried this foundation, let me know in the comments below!

It is annoying but I feel a little mixing helps out and that way we can still use some of those products. I really wanted to try this foundation, still haven’t had the chance. But you always look stunning, I admire your makeup skills. 🙂

Glad that I’ve found that mixing it helps it to look better on my skin and not be a total waste! Unfortunately my local store didn’t do samples so I’d recommend getting one if you can before trying! Thank you!

That’s great and the thing is more often I buy online which is why I just hold off on things I’m not sure.

What skin type is this foundation aimed at? This is a foundation I would like to try but I’d definitely request a sample after hearing about your experience x

I’ve seen on some sites say it’s suitable for all skin types as it’s oil free and contains coconut water which is good for hydration. The Debenhams I went to didn’t do testers for Too Faced unfortunately but I’d seen so many rave about this foundation I was sure I’d like it too! x

Does the product smell like coconut? Sorry to hear you’re not a fan x

It doesn’t have a distinct scent that I can smell, I’m just glad I can mix it with another so it’s not a total waste!x

I tried a sample of this and wasn’t impressed at all! My skin is combo but more on the dry side and it made me soooo oily! I find that TF foundations lean more yellow which doesn’t really suit my skin either. Glad I didn’t get the full size!

Glad I’m not the only one who’s experienced the same thing! I was so disappointed! Just going to mix with other to use it up!
