Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation | Review

Boots have really been upping their makeup game, so many brands are now available at Boots! Wet n Wild have been a brand I have seen featured on so many American Youtubers, and now we can finally buy it not only in Boots but also on Beauty Bay!

There are 6 shades currently in the Photo Focus Foundation range, which is very limited. The foundation is £5.99 for 30ml, which compared to my Becca Skin Love foundation has 35ml for £32! It’s described on Boots.com as:

Your skin, only better. Our high-performing, skin-perfecting foundation underwent major road testing under seven different photo lighting conditions to deliver flawless camera-ready makeup every time. Specially made with a matte, light-diffusing complex to give your skin #nofilter perfection.

Key Features:
– High-performing, breakthrough formula
– Featuring light-adjusting complex to help prevent white cast in photos
– Tested under 7 light conditions with and without the use of flash

The packaging initially is sleek, however the applicator inside the foundation ruins it for me. Its a flat applicator, which I always feels a little unhygienic popping it on your face then back into the pot. So I pop it on the back of my hand then onto my face.

I have the shade Soft Beige, when I swatched it in-store it looked like a good match as it seemed only a shade or two darker than my skin tone. The shade lighter than Soft Beige, Soft Ivory was too light for me. However when I first applied it, I definitely applied too much and ended up looking very orange toned.

So having learnt that a little goes a long way, the finish of this foundation is beautiful. It leaves the skin matte with a soft finish, perfect for an everyday look or night out. I feel like when I apply the foundation it looks very orange on me, but after buffing it into the skin it no longer looks orange and blends into my skin well. I apply what ever is left on my brush after applying it to my face, down my neck so there are no obvious foundation lines.

The coverage of the foundation is a medium coverage, which is buildable without looking cakey. I apply one layer around my entire face, then add a little extra on my nose, around my nose and chin where I tend to get more redness. I like the matte finish as it’s more of a natural matte, which helps to balance my combination skin. It definitely gives my skin a more flawless appearance and photographs beautifully!

The only things that could improve this foundation is the shade range, there really isn’t a great deal of choice/undertones to chose from. As well as a better applicator, I really don’t like it, plus I when it starts to run low I don’t think it’ll be able to get all the product out from the bottom. Other than that I really like this foundation, it’s great for going out for the day or evening! Plus it’s super affordable with a lot of product inside! What is your go to foundation? Thank you so much for reading, until next time

The soft, natural matte finish sounds nice, I don’t like foundations that lean too dewy or too matte. The product looks lovely on your skin in the photos too 🙂 hopefully they might expand the shade range x
