NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation | Review

Drugstore foundations can be hit or miss, sometimes the shade range isn’t great or they oxidise. But very rarely have NYX been a miss for me, so when they launched the Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation last year, with the matte formula I knew it would be up my street.

For £15 you get 30ml of product, which is the same amount as the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Foundation costing £29. So the amount of product is pretty good. It’s described on NYXCosmetics.co.uk as:

Lightweight, waterproof and pigmented AF, our new Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation hustles as hard as you do. This comfy liquid formula comes in 45 flattering tones that don’t transfer. Every creamy shade glides on smooth, delivering matte coverage and colour that stays true for up to 24 hours. Our little over achiever also works to control shine and mattify your complexion all-day long. But it doesn’t stop there: this foundation is non-comedogenic and suitable for normal, oily, combination, and sensitive skin types.

With 45 shades to choose from, I have the shade 06 Vanilla, the same shade I have in their Total Control Drops Foundation. The shade 06 Vanilla matches my skin perfectly and doesn’t oxidise. I find this to be a really nice foundation, it doesn’t look super matte on my skin even though it’s a matte formula. I did find during the winter it stuck to dry patches around my nose, so if my skin was more dry I would prime with a moisturiser such as Pixi’s Rose Flash Balm.

The packaging is pretty sleek and minimal, the only problem I have with it is that the foundation dries up at the end of the pump, causing it to block any foundation coming out. As there is no lock on the pump i.e. twisting it to keep the foundation down, the foundation sits in the pump. Which is annoying as it wastes product.

As for the claims of being full coverage I would disagree, it doesn’t completely cover my redness with one layer. But it is buildable, however it can look cakey if the skin is dry underneath. I find it’s super easy to blend out and whilst I haven’t worn I for 24 hours, it has lasted me nights out and days out with wearing it 10+ hours! It doesn’t break up on my skin or make my skin look shiny which is a huge bonus for me! The only thing that is a downside in terms of formula is that because it’s matte it can stick to dry areas of my face. Which is noticeable if I don’t prime with a moisturiser. But as the season starts to change from being cold, in the warmer weather I can see this foundation working perfectly on my combo skin!

Overall I like this foundation, I think it’s a great drugstore foundation. I think it’s fab for either a daytime look or an evening look. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have dry skin, but for the oily/combo skin huns out there this would work for you! Thank you so much for reading, what’s your favourite drugstore foundation? Until next time
