Brow Pencils vs Brow Pomades

Brows are such a personal thing. Everyone has their own preferred technique and style. As someone who is constantly late to beauty bandwagons I took my time in trying out a brow pomade. I always thought they were made for people with sparser and thinner brows than me as on social media those were the only people I saw use them. I never saw anyone with thicker brows use them, but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try one out. Brow pencils and brow pomades give a totally different finish and I thought it would make a great comparison.

If you have  been reading my blog for a while you’ll know my fave brow pencils to use are from Soap & Glory. I use their Archery 2-in-1 Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel in Brownie Points for the front part of my brow and their Archery 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush in Dark Chocolate for defining the edges and tail of my brow. I find this combination works really well and achieve the brow style I prefer.

When it came to a pomade I chose the NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade in Chocolate as it seemed like it would be the best match for my brows, and lucky for me it matches my brows pretty well. I was apprehensive about how difficult it would be to apply the pomade but with an angled brow brush it was super easy to apply, I use the Spectrum A14 or A24 brush, the A24 has the angled applicator as well as spoolie to brush out the product.

On the left picture about I used the Soap & Glory Archery pencil & crayon together with the right being the NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade.

Since having a pomade I have used it for nights out or things like that as it provides a super sleek brow and can be pretty quick to apply. However, I have had more than one occasion where I really can’t get the brows right and ended up with super defined brows and ended up with a harsher finish than I’d like. Which no amount of brushing the product out changed!

The pencil I have used more for everyday looks as it has a softer finish and more natural. Sometimes applying the pencil can be pretty quick and other times it can take it’s time. Just depends on how well my brows go!

Overall I really like both products and that both can offer something different. I think that pencils and pomade provide a pretty brow either way, it just depends on your preference and what brow style you’re after. I personally like both products and would definitely repurchase both! Thank you so much for reading, what is your favourite brow product?
