Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette| Review

At the beginning of this year I made it one of my goals to be more creative and outgoing with my makeup. After looking into different brands and price ranges, I happened to be at the Urban Decay stand After swatching the shades on the back of my hands I decided this was the palette for me!

However as soon as I took that palette home I saw so many negative reviews and comments about this palette. I was a little annoyed but I was still glad that I had bought a colourful palette. It’s described on Urban Decayas:

I have pretty much used all 18 shades in the palette to create different looks.  I have created a Sunset Eye, Blue Smokey Eye, and Blue & Gold Halo Eye. However as for the double ended brush, I haven’t really used it much. Not for any reason but I always find myself reaching for my Spectrum or Real Techniques brushes!

Personally I think this palette is good quality. There are 18 shades, the price of the palette varies when it’s on sale, but full price is £43. Which is £2.39 per shadow. For me the darker shades are a lot more pigmented like Warning, Blindsided, Goldmine,  Platonic, Hundred and Minx.

Whereas shades like Jones, Faded and Iced are less pigmented but are easily buildable or a setting spray can be used to enhance the colour.

My favourite shades from the Full Spectrum palette are Metamorphosis, Blindsided, Goldmine, Seize, Warning, Alchemy and Hatter. Below is a photo of some swatches with the flash on so you can really see what the shades look like. Some swatches like Warning and Platonic are just one swipe on the skin, whereas Calavera, and Faded are a few swipes to build up the pigment.

Overall I do like this palette, I’d like the lighter shades to be more pigmented and for there to be a black shadow as well as a red, which are the only shades really missing from the palette. Personally I think if you want specific bold colours Makeup Geek are brilliant for pigmentation and quality. And you can create your own palette of colours. But for a palette of colour, I think it’s good one on the market and it’s fab for getting out of your comfort zone. Plus just by swatching the shades it’s given me inspiration for more creative looks!
