2016 Beauty Favourites!

2016 has been a crazy year for me. I have some highs as well as lows and as for makeup my collection has exploded. I bought the majority of my makeup this year, mainly as I have replaced it with newer items and some I just couldn’t resist not having in my collection! As this is my first Beauty Favourites I am exited to share what I have loved this year!

To start off my first favourite of 2016 is something I was sent to from Seventeen and it’s their Falsifeye HD Mascara. I love this mascara. It has a plastic wand which I love, separates my lashes and makes them longer. I did a review on it earlier in the year here which you can read more about it. I’ve already repurchased it and I can no longer live without this mascara!

My next favourite is from Soap & Glory and it’s their Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting & Setting. This is my 3rd brow product from Soap & Glory. I don’t know what it is about Soap & Glory but I just love their brow products. The 2-in-1 brow is definitely my favourite from their range! It matches my dark brows nicely and for me I don’t like a super bold brow, this product gives my eyebrows a natural look whilst filling in any sparse areas.

Before 2016 I wasn’t really into blush. As someone who gets flush easily  I thought it would make me always look flush so I would skip it. However when I tried Sleek Blush in Rose Gold, my first sparkly blush, I was in love. In the pan it looks a deep pink with gold flecks. But when used it’s a rosy pink and no gold flecks in sight! It blends out really nicely and definitely doesn’t make me look flush!

Finding a contour shade that isn’t too muddy or orange looking on my pale skin can be a challenge. But when I tried Makeup Geek Contour Pan in Bad Habit in the summer, it is the perfect shade for my skin tone. Makeup Geek have a contour and blush shade for every skin tone and I found it was easy to choose which would suit me. Each shade is either warm or cool toned, Bad Habit is Fair Warm. My hunt for a perfect contour shade is over!

Along with trying Makeup Geek contour I couldn’t resist trying the eye shadows. I had seen so many YouTubers and bloggers use them and when I saw BeautyBay sold them I grabbed a few to try for myself. I almost have a full Z palette of the shadows now. I love them, they are so pigmented, the foiled eye shadows are amazing and the main thing I love is that I can create a palette of my own. There is such a wide range of colours to choose from any kind of personalised palette can be made!

I initially saw Spectrum brushes on social media. I was in love with these brushes! They looked beautiful and I thought that they’re probably super expensive and American. However I was nicely surprised when they popped up on my feed again, this time with the link to their website. I was hooked. I needed to own these brushes and when they had a sale on I took my chance and grabbed the 8 piece eye brush set. They blend eye shadow like a dream! I also bought the A10 fan brush, because who doesn’t want to feel fancy when applying highlighter!? These brushes are so soft and come in eye catching colours.

Highlighters have exploded this year and my two favourites are the Sleek Highlight Palette in Solstice and Becca x Jaclyn Hill in Champagne Pop. I actually saw the Sleek Solstice palette on Jaclyn Hill’s Snapchat and when I saw it in my local drugstore I knew as soon as I’d swatched it that I needed it in my life. You can read my review on the Solstice palette here. It’s such a beautiful palette and the shades are so pigmented.  It has 3 powders and one cream highlight and I love each one. I can create any many looks and there’s a shade in this palette to go with it. As for Champagne Pop, need I say more? Created by Jaclyn Hill it’s a gorgeous white gold highlight, you can read my review here. I just love this highlight, I thought it would be too dark for my skin but it gives me a beautiful glow.

Liquid lipsticks became huge this year and out of the brands I have tried NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams really stood out to me. I have quite a few in my collection in a range of shades. They are comfortable to wear on the lips without drying them out. I love that they smell like flumps (a British marshmallow brand I used to have when I was younger) and they are nicely pigmented. You can read my reviews on them here and here.

Finally to take all this makeup off my favourite product is The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. For me micellar waters just weren’t cutting it when it came to taking off liquid lipsticks or eyelash glue. I was fed up of rubbing my skin sore just to get it off. Plus they dried out my skin. Enter the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, this stuff literally melts all my makeup off in just a few rubs and doesn’t dry out my skin. Plus one pump can take off a whole face of makeup in minutes.

And those are my 2016 Beauty Favourites! I hope you have a great New Year and I am so excited for what 2017 has to bring! Thank you for joining me on my blogging journey and let it continue next year! Thank you for reading, until next year!

I just started blogging and I love what I am reading so far. I have yet to try oil for a cleanser. I have never heard of the brand Spectrum. I shall definitely give it a try. Is it affordable?
