NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review!

Although I don’t live near a store that stocks NYX, I have certainly watched videos containing their products or heard about their products. And it wasn’t until earlier in the year that I discovered that Boots.com stock NYX products. So are perusing the website I was struck most was their Soft Matte Lip Creams. It was the ‘Soft Matte’ description that got me curious. How can it be soft and matte? Most matte lip products, without lip preparation can be very drying and the opposite of soft!

So I did some online research looking at all the different colours to see which one I would most like. I’ve never bought make up online as I like to buy it in store to see for myself if I’ll like it. This was a first, so I tried to pick the colour I would like most i.e. which colour was similar to the ones I already own! In the end I went for Cannes.

Cannes is a dusty rose and it is my perfect lip shade! I absolutely love this shade! As I loved this shade so much I decided to buy another shade, and that is Stockholm, which is a nudey brown. When I first put Stockholm on I was a little disappointed as it was so bright and so orangey. But after it dried it went darker and suited my pale skin tone.
In the pictures below on the right is Cannes and on the left is Stockholm.

The first thing that hit me when I opened up both of these shades is the smell! It’s a very sweet smell and to me they smell like flumps ( a kind of marshmallows) and I love flumps! Ooh it’s delicious!

Secondly is the formula. On the NYX website they are described as ‘velvety smooth Soft Matte Lip Cream delivers a burst of creamy color and sets to a stunning matte finish. Surprisingly durable, lightweight and delightfully creamy’ and I agree with every word. The texture when on the lips is smooth and doesn’t feel drying and sets to a nice matte. Both shades are very pigmented and I don’t have to keep re-dipping to get a pigmented enough shade. The colour lasts until I eat when I only really need to reapply on the inner part of my lip.

Overall I really love these matte lip creams. They are by far one of my favourite formulas for a matte lip product. I will definitely be purchasing more, and for only £5.50 they are budget friendly!
